Donald Trump has filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News, alleging that the network engaged in “deceptive” practices aimed at interfering with the election during its interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Attorneys representing Trump stated that the lawsuit comes from “CBS’ partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public.” Trump’s legal team also alleged that alterations were made to the interview in an “attempt to tip the scales in favor of the Democratic Party.”

“President Trump brings this action to redress the immense harm caused to him, to his campaign, and to tens of millions of citizens in Texas and across America by CBS’s deceptive broadcasting conduct,” the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit follows a series of letters from Trump’s legal representatives to CBS News, requesting the full transcript of the “60 Minutes” interview with Harris. This request was prompted by the airing of two conflicting answers to the same question. Additionally, Trump’s attorneys urged CBS to retain all documents and communications related to the interview in anticipation of a possible legal dispute.

The former president’s legal team had previously requested that CBS News provide the complete transcript of the “60 Minutes” interview due to concerns regarding the network’s presentation of two differing answers to the same question. They noted that one of the responses, which portrayed Ms. Harris unfavorably, was highlighted in promotional materials, while the other, which cast her in a better light, was featured in the actual broadcast. In the lawsuit, filed just days before the election, Trump’s attorneys instructed CBS to preserve all documents and communications pertinent to the matter, as is customary in legal proceedings.
