Former First Lady Melania Trump has reportedly found her husband’s recent trial and criminal conviction to be a challenging experience, according to Donald Trump.
The recent verdict, in which Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records to hide hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels, has brought further difficulty to the former First Lady. Marked as the first U.S. president to face a criminal conviction, Donald Trump has denounced the trial as biased and politically driven. During an interview with Fox News, he proclaimed that winning the upcoming November election would serve as his “revenge.”
During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Donald Trump expressed that his legal battle in New York has taken a toll on his wife. The trial brought forth explicit details of the supposed encounter between Trump and Stormy Daniels, including Trump welcoming her in silk pajamas in his hotel suite and Daniels’ assertion that he did not use protection during their alleged sexual encounter. Daniels also testified that Trump and his wife sleep in separate beds. “She’s fine, but I think it’s very hard for her,” Trump said of his wife, adding that “in many ways, it’s tougher on them [his family] than it is me”.
According to New York law, each of the 34 felony charges that Donald Trump was found guilty of could carry a maximum sentence of up to four years in prison, although this outcome is deemed unlikely. In his Fox interview, Trump acknowledged the potential for imprisonment, stating that he is prepared for it but expressing uncertainty about public reaction. He remarked, “I think it would be challenging for the public to accept. There comes a point where there’s a limit.”
Stormy Daniels, the central figure in the New York trial, expressed surprise at the swift verdict reached by the jury in a recent interview. In her first public comments following the convictions, Daniels stated to UK newspaper The Mirror that she believes Donald Trump should face jail time and undertake community service to aid the less fortunate. She even suggested him being a volunteer punching bag at a women’s shelter. Despite the conviction, Daniels emphasized that the case is far from over for her.
“It’s never going to be over for me,” she said. “Trump may be guilty, but I still have to live with the legacy.”
