On Thursday, Donald Trump suggested organizing a series of three debates with Kamala Harris in September of this year.

He stated that his campaign had been in contact with TV networks and proposed that Fox News host a debate on September 4, NBC host one on September 10, and ABC host another on September 25.

‘We have those three dates and those networks. They’re very anxiously awaiting that date and those dates,’ Trump said at a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. Trump did not mention whether his team had made contact with Harris’ team. He did acknowledge that Harris would need to agree to participate in the proposed debates.

Trump and his team have criticized Harris for not participating in a media interview since becoming the Democratic nominee. “I anticipate the debates as an opportunity to clarify the record,” he remarked. Previously, Trump had canceled a debate scheduled for September 10 with ABC News because it had initially been planned with Biden. Harris had agreed to participate in that debate once she replaced Biden as the nominee.

However, the former president has now agreed to face Harris on the debate stage, a decision that coincides with Harris gaining ground in the polls. A recent national poll released on Thursday shows Harris leading Trump, and in several battleground states, the two are in a close race.
