This Thursday, Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him in the Georgia election interference case. He also waived his right to an arraignment, which is currently scheduled for 6 September in Fulton County.

Lawyers for the New York businessman filed the waiver of arraignment stating that Trump would not appear in court and would plead not guilty to all charges against him.

As we previously reported, the former president and 18 others were charged earlier this month in a sweeping racketeering indictment for alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia.

As we previously reported, Trump turned himself in Thursday night at the Fulton County Jail to be booked on felony charges in connection with efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET, Trump arrived at the jail in a presidential-style motorcade and was booked. He was also fingerprinted and photographed for a mug shot within minutes, according to jail records. However, Trump was quickly released. Overall, he was spent about 20 minutes in and out of jail.

Trump’s arrest was his fourth since April. It was also the first time he — or any former U.S. president — had his mug shot taken.

More On Trump’s Charges

In announcing the charges, Willis said “The state’s role in this process is essential to the functioning of our democracy. Georgia, like every state, has laws that allow those who believe that results of the election are wrong, whether because of intentional wrongdoing or unintentional error to challenge those results in state courts,” Willis said.

Trump has maintained he’s not guilty of any wrongdoing and has accused Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’, a Democrat, of “election interference” for charging him because he’s again running for president.

Trump has reacted to his latest arrest by saying, “What has taken place here is a travesty of justice. We did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong,” he told reporters as he prepared to fly out of Atlanta after being booked and photographed at the Fulton County Jail. “What they’re doing is election interference,” he said.
