Donald Trump Plans To Propose $1.8 Trillion Coronavirus Relief Package

Just two days after President Trump abruptly calling off negotiations on another round of aid for Americans and their businesses still struggling from the pandemic, the White House is now preparing to offer a new $1.8 trillion coronavirus relief deal, according to CNBC citing a senior administration official.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow says Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is expected to discuss the proposal which is the largest yet from the Trump administration — with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when the two speak Friday. It’s an increase from the $1.6 trillion the Trump administration previously proposed.

While Trump has yet to publicly speak out on this, he did tweet this Friday morning, “COVID Relief Negotiations are moving along. Go Big!”

House Democrats passed a $2.2 trillion bill earlier this month, and the sides have struggled to find a consensus in between those figures. Now, to pass a bill before the election to boost a reeling economy and health-care system, the sides would have to both come to an agreement and get the support of the Republican-held Senate.
