A new book is alleging that former President Donald Trump believed his ex-girlfriend, Kara Young — who is biracial — possessed an intelligent side to her purely because she was half white. The explosive claims, which have been reviewed by Rolling Stone, are made in New Yorker Times writer Maggie Haberman’s book, “Confidence Man.”
The pair were said to have dated in the late ‘90s, and according to Haberman, there was an instance where Trump had been introduced to his former flame’s parents where he shockingly felt compelled to make a rather racist joke in their presence. She writes that Trump confidently told them that Young must have gotten her intelligence “from her dad, the white side,” and her looks from her mother.
The book asserts that while Trump was brought to laughter by his own remark, Young looked displeased by the comment. But that’s not all, Haberman then goes on to claim that during his time as President of the United States, Trump mistook his staffers of color for waiters, having assumed they were only there to serve him his food. Former White House chief of staff Reince Preibus had to correct Trump, telling him that he was actually speaking to top congressional aides.
Trump has faced claims of racism for years, though he had vehemently denied every single one of these accusations in the past, saying he does not think about someone’s skin color by any means.
Some would argue otherwise, as his previous false comments about former President Barack Obama not being from the U.S. continues to ruffle people the wrong way. He first made the comment back in 2011, further adding that Obama perhaps wasn’t a good enough student to have gotten into a prestigious school such as Columbia or Harvard. He then went on to demand Obama to prove he was born in the U.S. by releasing his birth certificate and university transcripts.
“I heard he was a terrible student. Terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?” Trump said. Furthermore, in 2015, he infamously claimed that Mexican immigrants were “rapists” who were “bringing crime” and “drugs” to the U.S., seemingly generalizing those who have left their homes to start a new life in America.
It’s believed Trump plans on running for the presidency once more in the upcoming election.
