During a rally in Bozeman, Montana, on Friday, Donald Trump claimed that many people, including himself, do not know the last name of his opponent, Kamala Harris.
He told the crowd, “Kamala Harris, you know, it’s interesting, nobody really knows her last name. If you ask people, do you know what her last name is? Nobody has any idea what it is. Harris… It’s like Harris.” He went on to say, “I don’t care if I get it right. Trump also criticized her for not having done a sit-down interview since announcing her presidential campaign, calling her “dumb.”

Social media quickly responded, reminding him that people do indeed know Kamala Harris’ last name. One X user pointed out, “Fact Check: The claim made by Donald Trump that ‘nobody really knows’ Kamala Harris’ last name is misleading. Kamala Harris’ last name is ‘Harris,’ which is well-known and has been part of public records throughout her career. She was born Kamala Devi Harris, and this name has been publicly documented and widely recognized. Furthermore, her birth certificate, which includes her full name, has been publicly available and confirms this information.”

The user added, “There is no mystery or lack of knowledge about her last name; it is an established and well-known fact.”

Another user on X commented, “He really has no ammo to use against her… what even is this????” A third user remarked, “He is just babbling these days. He has nothing to run on with Kamala, and it’s the funniest thing ever to see him try to throw things at the wall to see what sticks.”
