Trump made the big announcement on Twitter saying, “HUGE breakthrough today! Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends, Israel and the United Arab Emirates!” He also attached a joint statement including Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the UAE’s ruler, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who said that the “historic diplomatic breakthrough will advance peace in the Middle East region.”

According to his post, delegations from the three countries would meet in the next coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements “regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit” adding that as “a result of this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the United Arab Emirates, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty” over areas of the West Bank that were envisioned in the US peace plan unveiled by Trump in January.

Following his big news, Trump and the administration team spoke more about the deal at a news conference in the White House moments after.

“We’ve been working on this for a long time. It’s been a labor of love for a lot of the people in this room, and a lot of them love Israel, and a lot of them love the Middle East and they love the countries that we’re talking about,” Trump said in the Oval Office.

In addition to all of that, Trump said he pulled the US out of the Iran nuclear deal and predicted that the Islamic Republic would come back to the negotiating table and hash out another deal if he wins a second term, the New York Post notes.
