Euphoria star Dominic Fike, who plays Elliott on the hit HBO series, has found himself in hot water for comments he recently made about Amber Heard as her defamation trial with Johnny Depp draws to a close. On Thursday, a video clip of the 26-year-old performing at Northwestern University had gone viral on Twitter, where Dominic is heard praising Amber and telling the crowd he had envisioned her “beating” him up.
While on stage, he said, “Yo, I’m just gonna come straight out and say it. I’m gonna say it. I’m gonna be real with y’all.” Then, after telling onlookers that he found the Aquaman actress “hot,” he continued, “I don’t know. I know it’s not the popular opinion, and I know it’s not the focus at the moment, dude, but I’ve been having these visions of her.” He explained that those visions were of Amber “beating me up,” to which he then said, “I think it’s hot.”
The controversial clip saw Dominic Fike trending on Twitter, with Euphoria fans condemning him for glorifying domestic abuse, while some people on the social media platform went as far as to urge others to cancel the actor and rock artist for his ill-suited behavior. “That’s disgusting no matter how you view the trial and a weird thing to say about a potential abuser/victim,” one person stressed. Another person wrote, “dominic fike saying Amber heard is attractive so he wouldn’t mind being abused by her just pretty much killed it for me he’s corny.”

Dominic himself has not responded to the backlash he’s received for his remark about the fantasies he appears to have about Amber, but judging from the adverse reaction on social media, it would seem as if an apology shouldn’t be ruled out of the question. Meanwhile, earlier this week, the Florida native made headlines following rumors he and fellow co-star Hunter Schafer have called it quits after just a few months of dating.
The pair, who met while filming Euphoria, confirmed their relationship earlier this year, but, per Just Jared, there have been a string of claims about the couple, with one fan asking DeauxMoi, a popular celebrity blog that has amassed over 1.5 million followers, whether Dominic had cheated on Hunter. The person who runs the account responded, saying, “I think they have been over so if you are referring to his recent dalliances then no.”
Elsewhere, it was announced in February that Euphoria had been picked up for a third season. In an official statement by Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi, she said, “Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.”
Despite the good news, there’s still no word on when fans can expect the third series to hit HBO just yet.
