Doja Cat Defends New Tattoo That’s Been Deemed ‘Demonic’ By Critics: ‘Your Fear Is Not My Problem’

On Saturday (April 15), Doja shared her new tattoo with her fans on Instagram and immediately caught backlash. Doja, who has already been recently criticized during Paris Fashion for being covered in red paint and 30,000 red crystals, is again being called out for being “demonic.”

Firing back at all of the critics, Doja took to her Instagram again and shared several photos of the inspiration behind her new ink piece. She also reposted a lengthy caption from another account explaining the images she shared. For her caption, she simply said, “Your fear is not my problem.”

The reposted caption read, “Images from the 1665 edition of Fortunio Liceti’s De Monstris, originally published, without the illustrations, in 1616. Liceti’s work, although not the first on the topic of deformities in nature, was perhaps the most influential of the period.

In the wake of the book there was a huge rise in interest throughout Europe in ‘monstrosities;’ pygmies, supposed mermaids, deformed fetuses, and other natural marvels were put on display and widely discussed, becoming the circus freak-shows of their time. However, unlike many of his contemporaries Licenti did not see deformity as something negative, as the result of errors or failures in the course of nature.”

The reposted caption concluded, “Instead he likened nature to an artist who, faced with some imperfection in the materials to be shaped, ingeniously creates another form still more admirable. ‘It is said that I see the convergence of both Nature and art,’ wrote Liceti, ‘because one or the other not being able to make what they want, they at least make what they can.'”

Meanwhile, under Doja’s post where she told critics that their fear is “not my problem,” some fans continued to blast her and bring up religion. One fan simply stated, “Jesus is king.”

Another person wrote, “But why?” Doja replied, “Because I think it’s beautiful and I like it.”

But of course with all the criticism, other fans helped defend Doja too. One fan said, “Thank you ’cause the ignorance is LOUDDDD.” Doja replied and said, “Louder than ever.”

Another fan wrote, “Everyone calls Doja demonic until she wears a wig.”

A third user wrote, “You’re doing things because you like them?! That’s weird and I’m scared. People should never do what genuinely interests them. Mom if you’re reading this please come pick me up.”
