A Florida woman was arrested Monday after she threw her dog from a two-story balcony at a Daytona Beach motel room.

Authorities reported the animal landed on its feet and did not suffer any serious injuries. They responded to a call that afternoon regarding a woman threatening to jump from a Motel 6 balcony and knocked on her door several times. When they entered the room, Allison Murphy, 35, held a German shepherd on a leash and threw it off the balcony.
Murphy was arrested immediately after the incident by Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies and she faces charges of resisting an officer with violence and animal cruelty.

Volusia County Animal Services took the female dog into their care and named her Miracle. She was transported to the Atlantic Animal Hospital for treatment and an X-ray revealed a sewing needle was pinned into her right thigh.
A court case for anyone to take custody of Miracle was scheduled for the next couple of weeks.
