Disney Launchpad is a unique and innovative filmmaking program created by Disney that focuses on promoting underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry. Season 2 follows six new writers, five directors, and one writer-director from diverse backgrounds who showcase their experiences and talents.
The shorts consist of Beautiful, FL, Blackbelts, The Ghost, Maxine, Project CC, and The Roof which all have their own unique storytelling and lesson behind them.
“Project CC” is definitely one that shines among the stars and within a short amount of time, you experience many emotions and place yourself in the shoes of the main character, who has experienced a lot already at her young age. This short in itself would make a great Disney+ series that will bring the whole family together.
“Project CC” follows the story of 12-year-old Paris Browniee, the child of two remarkable scientists. After tragically losing her best friend to sickness she seeks her genius to fill the void by attempting to use her scientific brilliance to fix it and clone her friend but, the experiment goes terribly wrong. While her parents are away, Paris must team up with her cool influencer sister Porfia to clean up the mess before their return. While she lost her closest friend, the journey brings her and her sister closer and their sisterhood fixes everything.
If Project CC is anything to go by, we will be seeing a lot more from director Cashmere Jasmine.
Each story in this season’s launchpad will teach valuable lessons snd showcase remarkable talent that may have gone undiscovered.
