#Socialites, please join us in sending condolences to the family and friends of legendary Digital Underground co-founder & lead singer and rapper Shock G, who has died at the age 57.

The rapper, real name Gregory Jacobs, and his group were famously known for their 1989 hit and dance, “The Humpty Dance,” based off Shock G’s alter ego, “Humpty Hump.” The rapper’s father, Edward Racker revealed his son was found dead on Thursday (Apr. 22) in a hotel room in Tampa.

While a cause of death is still unclear, there were no signs of trauma. Racker says law enforcement officials are investigating and an autopsy will be performed for clarity. As mentioned, Shock G was the lead for the pioneering Hip-Hop group Digital Underground and was also known for his collaborative efforts with Tupac Shakur. He was featured on the late rapper’s 1993 song “I Get Around,” and was a producer on his 1991 debut solo album, ‘2Pacalypse Now.’
