Here’s some great news to kick off your Tuesday! Sunday, September 12 is expected to be an electrifying night at the 2023 MTV’s VMAs as music mogul ‘Diddy’ Combs will take center stage! Not only will he perform, but the spotlight will be on him as he will also be receiving the prestigious Global Icon Award!
MTV released a statement saying, “Diddy will receive the Global Icon Award for his unparalleled career and continued influence that has achieved unrivaled global success in music and beyond. Combs, whose worldwide impact has lasted for more than three decades including two #1 albums on the Billboard 200 and five #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 (CW TO FIX), will also make a highly-anticipated return to the iconic MTV stage.”
It’s definitely going to be a great night for Diddy as it will mark his first performance at the “VMAs” since 2005. Furthermore, he’s also been nominated for 4 other awards this year for his work on “Creepin” (Remix) and “Gotta Move On.” He snagged 2 nominations for “Best Collaboration,” and one for “Best Rap” and “Best R&B.”

The award celebrates an artist or band whose “unparalleled career and continued influence have achieved a unique level of global success in music and beyond.” Diddy previously hosted the “VMAs” from Miami, in 2005. Diddy also won a Moon Person for “Best R&B Video” (1997) and later won the “Viewer’s Choice” award back in (1998).

This announcement comes after another big news was dropped earlier this week. In a major move, Sean “Diddy” Combs has reassigned his publishing rights back to all the artists and songwriters who helped build his legendary label, Bad Boy Entertainment. Ma$e, Faith Evans, The LOX, 112, and the Estate of the late Notorious B.I.G. are among the artists who have already signed agreements to regain those rights, Billboard reports. Diddy made this all happen after he turned down various offers to sell the catalog.
Aside from this, Diddy recently announced his highly anticipated R&B masterpiece “The Love Album: Off the Grid” dropping on Diddy Day, September 15th, 2023.
