Sean “Diddy” Combs is on routine suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York as he awaits trial. As previously reported, the mogul was arrested on Monday at a Manhattan hotel and his indictment was made public, revealing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

According to an exclusive report by PEOPLE, it remains unclear whether Combs is feeling suicidal. Close sources told the outlet that he is in shock and his mental state is uncertain. The suicide watch is said to be a precautionary measure, and his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, has requested that he be moved to a facility in Essex County, New Jersey. However, the final decision rests with the Bureau of Prisons. Agnifilo also mentioned MDC’s history of being understaffed and unsafe, with several deaths and suicides being reported in recent years.
The legal team emphasized their concerns in a motion for bail, stating that the prison’s conditions were unsuitable for pre-trial detention. They also pointed out that at least four inmates have died by suicide at MDC in the past three years, and there was a recent inmate murder earlier this summer.
Combs is accused of organizing “freak offs” in which victims were coerced in participation using drugs like cocaine, ketamine, and oxycodone. Allegedly, the acts were secretly recorded without the victims’ consent. During raids on his Miami and Los Angeles properties, federal investigators seized three AR-15 riles and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant in March.
