Diddy seems ready to (somewhat) talk about his split from Cassie after releasing his latest single “Gotta Move On” featuring Bryson Tiller. The track, released on Friday, seemingly addresses his split from the “Long Way 2 Go” singer, whom he called it quits with back in 2018 after a decade-long on-agai,n off-again relationship.
“You found a new man, so I gotta move on / Guess you got a new agenda, with someone you barely know / I won’t, say you’re wrong / Guess you had to move on,” the song lyrics include. Following their split, conflicting reports claimed that Alex was hired as Diddy’s personal trainer before a romance between him and Cassie developed. But a source later clarified that Alex was actually hired to train Cassie, during which time they fell for one another.
A source told PEOPLE that “there was absolutely overlap,” strongly implying that Cassie had started seeing Alex before her relationship with Diddy had ended. “Cassie wanted a personal trainer, so Diddy hired Alex for her. Then Cassie and Alex started hooking up before her relationship with Diddy was over.” Cassie announced her relationship with her handsome beau in late 2018 before going on to tie the knot in a small ceremony in 2019 and welcoming two daughters, Frankie Fine and Sunny Cinco Fine, soon after.
Back in October 2018, it was LoveBScott who broke the news that Cassie and Diddy were no longer together. Sources for the publication claimed that the two hadn’t been together in months but decided to keep the news under the radar to avoid creating a public spectacle if they were to announce their breakup on social media.
“They are indeed no longer together and haven’t been for months,” a rep for Cassie confirmed. Cassie had begun to clear out all of her photos with Diddy from her social media accounts just weeks before the report was released. But considering that they had broken up and gotten back together on multiple occasions in the past, fans didn’t make anything of it until Alex came into the picture.
According to The Sun, there was a string of infidelity allegations against Diddy that had rocked the couple’s relationship enough for Cassie to move on with her life. She was also said to have been under the impression she would one day marry Diddy and have his children, but it appeared the father-of-six was not ready for that step in their relationship, even though they had already been together for 10 years at the time of their final breakup.
While fans may perhaps never know the truth about what actually caused their split, Cassie and Diddy have both moved on. The latter has since revealed he’s dating City Girls member Yung Miami.
