Derek Chauvin Defense Expert Claims George Floyd Died of Cardiac Arrest From Heart Disease

The defense in the Derek Chauvin and George Floyd trial continue to push the narrative that Floyd died from drugs and not the fact that Chauvin was kneeling on his neck.

The defense called David Fowler, a former Maryland medical examiner to the stand and he claimed that Floyd’s heart disease and drug use were factors that contributed to his cardiac arrest.

Is it your opinion that Mr. Chauvin’s knee in any way impacted the structures of Mr. Floyd’s neck?” Nelson, the defense attorney, asked.

“No, it did not,” claimed Fowler. “None of the vital structures were in the area where the knee appeared to be from the videos. The amount of force that was applied to Mr. Floyd was less than enough to bruise him.”

Fowler’s testimony contradicts testimony from multiple prosecution witnesses who argued that Floyd died of asphyxia as a direct result of Chauvin’s actions.
