Department Of Homeland Security Says White Supremacy Is The Most ‘Lethal Threat’ In The US
In a recent draft assessment, the Department of Homeland Security reports that white supremacy is the most “persistent and lethal threat” in the US through 2021. They also add that President Donald Trump‘s race-baiting tactics and frequent downplayed threats of white supremacists do more harm than good.
Per CNN, the documents predict an “elevated threat environment at least through” early next year, and point out that some of the US’ violent extremists have taken full advantage of the increased social and political tension in 2020.

While the report states that domestic terrorism via white supremacist extremists are the deadliest threat on the US, they add that foreign terrorist organizations are also still a threat and will continue to attack; however, they “probably will remain constrained in their ability to direct such plots over the next year.”
Specifically, in the earliest available version of the “State of the Homeland Threat Assessment 2020,” the drafts reads, “We judge that ideologically-motivated lone offenders and small groups will pose the greatest terrorist threat to the Homeland through 2021, with white supremacist extremists presenting the most lethal threat.”
