Democratic Women Wear White To State Of The Union As A Public Display Of Feminine Power
At Tuesday nights State Of The Union Address, the Democratic women stood out in shades of white and this is why!
This year marks the 100th year of the 19th amendment that says states and the federal government can not deny the right to vote to US citizens on the basis of sex.
That groundbreaking amendment was the underlying theme for the Democratic women who attended Tuesday’s State Of The Union address wearing white.
The all white was also a nod to the November elections where there was a record number of women, the majority of them being Democrats, elected to Congress.
Nearly 100 years after women earned the right to vote, more than 100 women are serving in Congress. Tonight the @HouseDemWomen are wearing suffragette white to remind the president that we—and the rights our ancestors fought for—aren’t going anywhere. #SOTU #SOTU2019 pic.twitter.com/ZkFDdj5YxV

“Wearing suffragette white is a respectful message of solidarity with women across the country, and a declaration that we will not go back on our hard-earned rights,” Representative Lois Frankel of Florida, told CNN.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi took the her Twitter to Tweet about the nights attire saying,

Some did notice that Melania Trump decides to opt out of the women’s white and wore a navy blue piece. However many also noticed Tiffany Trump sporting all white to show her support.
During his address, President Trump did recognize the women saying,
“Americans can be proud that we have more women in the workforce than ever before,” he said.
“And exactly one century after the Congress passed the constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote, we also have more women serving in the Congress than ever before.”
