Superstar Demi Lovato has updated their pronouns on social media! The star recently introduced some changes to their Instagram profile to reflect their gender identity and to make it easy for fans to find their preferred pronouns. Demi updated it to: they/them/she/her pronouns. There’s also a message in the entertainer’s bio for Demi’s fans that reads, “I love you, keep going.”
As we previously reported, back in May of last year, Demi Lovato announced, “I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.” While many people were supportive of the 29-year-old, other fans were a little confused. However, Demi previously talked about their pronouns last summer and told fans on Instagram: “If you misgender me – that’s OK. I accidentally misgender myself sometimes! It’s a huge transition to change the pronouns I’ve used for myself my entire life. And it’s difficult to remember sometimes!”
Demi Lovato added at the time, “As long as you keep trying to respect my truth,” Demi Lovato continued, “and as long as I remember my truth, that shift will come naturally. I’m just grateful for your effort in trying to remember what means so much to my healing process.”
Who Else Has Recently Come Out?
Now, Demi Lovato isn’t the only celebrity who recently made changes. Fellow singer Janelle Monae recently come out as non-binary. The singer and actress confirmed that during a new season premiere of “Red Table Talk.” The 36-year-old said,
“I just don’t see myself as a woman, solely,” Monáe, explained on their “RTT” appearance. “I feel all of my energy. I feel like God is so much bigger than the ‘he’ or the ‘she.’ If I am from God, I am everything. I am everything, but I will always, always stand with women. I will always stand with Black women. But I just see everything that I am beyond the binary.”
Monae went on to say, “I don’t see how you identify And I feel like that opens you up to fall in love with whoever, with any beautiful spirit.” Monae had also came out as pansexual in 2018. Further explaining, Monae said in an interview with Rolling Stone at the time,
“Being a queer black woman in America, someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker,” they told the magazine back in April 2018. Monae clarified that they initially identified as bisexual, “but then later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”
