According to a report from The Daily Mail, Ramin Khodakaramrezaei, 38, shot and killed Zohreh Sadeghi, 33, and her husband Mohammed Naseri, 35, at their Redmond, Washington home in the early morning hours on March 9. Khodakaramrezaei reportedly climbed through a window at the home and proceeded to shoot the married couple before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life. Sadeghi’s mother, who was also in the residence at the time of the break-in, managed to escape to a neighbor’s home where she called 911.

Khodakaramrezaei, who was divorced with one child and had no prior criminal record, allegedly stalked the home of Sadeghi for 18 months before the fatal shooting. Police revealed that Khodakaramrezaei found out about Sadeghi after discovering her podcast based on finding work in the tech industry. They reportedly met in person in 2022 and Sadeghi allegedly hid some of their interactions from her husband. According to authorities, Sadeghi filed a criminal complaint against Khodakaramrezaei on March 2. Authorities were preparing to serve Khodakaramrezaei a restraining order but were having issues tracking him down in the weeks before the shooting incident occurred. In the complaint filed a week before the shooting, Sadeghi described Khodakaramrezaei as “delusional,” and expressed “fear,” for her safety.

“He [Khodakaramrezaei] has bursts of anger and is completely delusional,” Sadeghi stated in the complaint. “These delusions make me fear for my life and the lives of my loved ones.”

Sadeghi also alleged that Khodakaramrezaei also frequently contacted her husband and would park his car near their home in hopes of seeing her outside.

“He contacted my husband and continues to do so,” she continued in the complaint. “He has come to my neighborhood several times, staying at inns around my neighborhood, he has parked down my street in hopes of seeing me. I am suffering a deep-seated fear for my safety.”

In the months prior to Sadeghi filing the order, Khodakaramrezaei bombarded her with calls and texts and stayed at hotels and inns near her neighborhood. Court documents reveal Sadeghi asked Khodakaramrezaei to leave her alone on multiple occasions and blocked his number and social media accounts in November. He also visited the 38-year-old while her husband Naseri was out of the country in December to give her flowers at her home and sent her jewelry and other gifts including a scarf.

Authorities investigating the crime are currently trying to figure out if Khodakaramrezaei was in the area before the shooting or if he drove from Texas to Washington before he broke into the home.

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe spoke to media at the crime scene, describing the shooting as the “worst case scenario,” in a situation of this nature, and also revealed the fatal shooting was the first homicide to occur in Redmond in years.

“This is the worst case scenario. This is every victim, every investigator, every police chief’s worst nightmare,” Lowe said. He added that this is the first homicide to happen in Redmond since at least 2021.
