Criminal and Civil Rights attorney Lisa Bloom, who represented singer Dawn Richard, is sharing her thoughts on Diddy‘s “disappointing” sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy (RICO) trial verdict, comparing it to the murder acquittal of late football star, O.J. Simpson.
As we previously shared, on Wednesday (July 2), Sean “Diddy” Combs was found not guilty on his sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy (RICO) charges in his federal case. Instead, the jury, following intense deliberations, found him guilty on two lesser counts involving the transportation for prostitution of former girlfriends, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and Jane Doe.
Despite Diddy’s dramatic acquittal on his most serious charges, his legal battle is far from over. His legal team has since filed a motion for bail as they await his sentencing, set for October 3. However, Judge Arun Subramanian denied the mogul’s $1 million bail request. Diddy remains behind bars at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), where has been held since his arrest in September 2024.

Cassie’s Lawyer Reacts To Diddy’s Sex Trafficking & RICO Acquittal
Following Diddy’s sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy acquittal, Cassie’s lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, released a statement. Wigdor said:
“This entire criminal process started when our client, Cassie Ventura, had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023. Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.
By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice. We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial.
She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”
Dawn Richard’s Attorney Lisa Bloom Calls Diddy’s Sex Trafficking & RICO Acquittal ‘Disappointing’
Elsewhere, another attorney for another alleged victim of Diddy is speaking out. During an interview with TMZ, Dawn Richard’s attorney Lisa Bloom called the mogul’s acquittal “disappointing.” She further compared the disheartening feeling to the same one many felt when O.J. Simpson was acquitted in 1995 for the brutal 1994 double murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald “Ron” Goldman. Bloom told TMZ:
“In my opinion, this is one of the most disappointing verdicts for sexual assault victims since O.J. It’s really hard to see a man who was caught on video beating, kicking, dragging his girlfriend, essentially only be convicted of relatively minor prostitution charges, but the jury just didn’t feel that the prosecution had it beyond a reasonable doubt on the top charges and we’ll just have to respect that decision.
In this case, particularly, I was in the courtroom in Manhattan for jury selection, and what was highly unusual about this case was how many jurors wanted to be on the jury. This is a case where they really wanted to be on the jury. I’m sure because of the celebrity of it. And was that a factor? I mean, I have to be suspicious.”
