David Oyelowo On His Directorial Debut With Mythical Fantasy Film “The Water Man”

David Oyelowo and Lonnie Chavis team up for a mythical family fantasy “The Water Man. We had a chance to speak to the pair about the movie.

Based on the story of a family who moved from a city to a small secluded town in order to provide a better environment for the mother (Rosario Dawson), who is sick and does not have long to live. The son will go to any lengths to save his mother and embarks and on the mythical story of The Water Man to find a cure for her.

While speaking to Oyelowo, we asked what drew him to the Water Man for hai directorial debut,

The Water Man is a story about how far a heroic young boy will go to save his mother,” Oyelowo said.. “I grew up loving family films that have adventure, fantasy, and jeopardy whilst never patronizing their young protagonists. As a father to four children, I want to share films with my kids that both entertain and equip them for the highs and lows that lie ahead. I relish watching films with them that both transport our family to a different world and then leave us having meaningful conversations. I love films that do that, so I set out to make one for them, other families, and hopefully, the whole world!”

We also spoke to Lonnie who shed light on his breakout role and playing a lead. He expressed how it was different from previous work but he aced it!
