Netflix’s new film We Have A Ghost might sound like a spooky thriller, but it’s actually a feel-good family movie — with a little murder mystery thrown in.

Hollywood Unlocked was on the red carpet for the premiere at Netflix’s Hollywood campus, catching up with the stars about what fans can expect.

For Anthony Mackie, this role marks his first time playing a father on screen. Mackie stars as Frank Presley, a dad determined to hold his family together — even if it means exploiting a ghost living in their new house. Speaking about stepping into the role, Mackie joked:

“I think of myself as the best dad, so in this movie, I keep the best dad level up at 10.”

In the film, Frank embraces social media fame as the “cool dad” to bring money into their broken home and reconnect with his sons — all while navigating the chaos caused by their ghostly roommate.

Jahi Winston plays Kevin Presley, the youngest son, who discovers Ernest — the friendly ghost played by David Harbour — in the attic of their new home. Instead of fearing him, Kevin befriends Ernest through music and, with the help of his best friend Joy (played by Isabella Russo), sets out to uncover the mystery of Ernest’s past. Along the way, they dodge FBI agents, ghost hunters, and other forces who want to capture Ernest for their own gain.

Joining the cast are Erica Ash as Melanie Presley, the supportive matriarch of the family; Niles Fitch as Fulton, the oldest Presley son; and Jennifer Coolidge as Judy Romano, a colorful TV personality, among other standout performances.

While We Have A Ghost has its fair share of supernatural fun, at its core, it’s a story about family — and how, through every twist and turn, families stick together. And as viewers will quickly discover, not everything is what it seems when it comes to Ernest’s mysterious past.

We Have A Ghost is now streaming on Netflix. Make sure to check it out and let us know what you think!
