Darnella Frazier, Teen Who Filmed George Floyd Murder, Is Credited For Derek Chauvin Conviction
Darnella Frazier, the teen who filmed the moments leading up to and during the murder of George Floyd, is again being credited and praised a hero following the murder conviction of Derek Chauvin.
It’s said that without Frazier’s quick thinking, former Minneapolis police officer Chauvin would still be employed and back on the streets. Instead, he’s behind bars, convicted of two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter after kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes.

Floyd’s aunt Angela Harrellson praised Frazier, who was a 17-year-old in high school at the time of the shooting, and said, “The sad thing is if it hadn’t been for that 17-year-old girl Darnella, it would have been another black man that was killed by the police … and they would have said, ‘Oh, it was drugs, oh it was this. And we would never have had the story we would have. And wouldn’t be here today talking.” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz also publicly thanked Frazier, stating, “Taking that video, I think many folks know, is maybe the only reason that Derek Chauvin will go to prison.”
After testifying in court and later learning of Chauvin’s conviction, Frazier took to her Facebook and wrote, “I just cried so hard 😩 This last hour my heart was beating so fast, I was so anxious, anxiety bussing through the roof. But to know GUILTY ON ALL 3 CHARGES !!! THANK YOU GOD THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 😭🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 George Floyd we did it!!🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️ justice has been served ✊🏽”
