If you’re familiar with the show ‘Dance Moms’ then you probably came across at least one intense scene with dance teacher, Abby Lee Miller.
From all the yelling and screaming to the extremely harsh criticism towards young dancers who weren’t as “talented” as others, Miller spent years being slammed online for her intense training tactics on the reality show.
Years later, she’s admitting that she was doing way too much. In a new interview with ABC News’ Juju Chang, Miller was asked, “Do you think you would take back some of the harshness — or any of it — when you look back?” The 58-year-old replied, “Absolutely, Yes, I would.” She continued saying,
“No matter how harsh I was on the kid, they weren’t gonna get it,” she explained. “They just didn’t have the talent.” Chang chimed in to clarify, “You’re saying you regret it, not because you hurt the kids’ feelings, but because it was pointless?” Miller insisted that she “didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings” and was just trying to help them be the best they could be. “I want to get them to be better and the best that they can be,” she claimed.

Although she had a very cutthroat way of teaching, she is credited for the success of some of our favorite young performers like JoJo Siwa, Kendall Vertes, Chloé Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kalani Hilliker, Mackenzie, and Maddie Ziegler.
Many of her young stars will not be returning to the Dance Moms: The Reunion which airs May 1 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime. Although that may be disappointing for some people to hear, IMPACT x Nightline’s “Dance Moms: Behind the Curtain” will show what it’s been like for life after the reality show.
