DaBaby Shares Another Apology To The LGBTQ Community After Being Dropped From Multiple Festivals Over Homophobic Rant

After being dropped from several music festivals back-to-back, DaBaby is now speaking out too offer another apology to the LGBTQ community.

“Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate and learn from your mistakes,” he wrote in an Instagram post this Monday morning. “As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me — knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance — has been challenging.”

He added: “I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately to offer wisdom, education and resources. That’s what I needed and it was received.”

“I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,” the rapper wrote in a note posted to his verified Instagram page this Monday morning. “Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.”

As we previously reported, while performing at Rolling Loud festival in Miami over the weekend, he asked every audience member to “put your cell phone light up”, apart from those who were HIV-positive or were gay men who had sex in car parks. Following a wave of backlash, the rapper apologized for his comments. He tweeted last night that his comments were “insensitive” adding he had “no intentions on offending anybody” before offering “my apologies”. “Anybody who done ever been [affected] by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset,” he said at the time.

This latest move comes days after his comments were largely condemned by prominent musicians, members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies including Raven Symone, Elton John, Madonna and more.
