Celeste Rivas Hernandez first hit headlines as Los Angeles Police Department officials discovered a decomposing body in an impounded Tesla registered to 20-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer D4vd. On September 8, LAPD officers were called to an impound lot in Hollywood, California. Hollywood Tow employees reported a foul odor coming from inside of a car parked in their lot.

Upon arrival, police found the vehicle with a strong stench. Officers described the car as a black 2023 Tesla with Texas license plates. They opened the front trunk of the Tesla and discovered a decomposing body stuffed inside of a bag. The female victim was described as having wavy black hair, 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing 71 pounds. She was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that said, “Shhh…”

Investigators said she was “severely decomposed.” Los Angeles Police Captain Robert Peters told NBC News Los Angeles the car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, sitting for about a month. The car received some citations and was eventually towed to the Hollywood Tow where it sat for two days before the big discovery.

Detectives quickly linked the car back to an owner based out of Hempstead, Texas. His name listed as David Anthony Burke, better known as singer D4vd. He is best known for voicing viral songs like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.” The two songs alone have garnered billions of streams on Spotify, where he has more than 33 million monthly listeners.

D4vd Investigation: LA County Medical Examiner Rules Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s Death Undetermined, Not Pregnant

Weeks after Hernandez’s body was discovered, a death certificate obtained by TMZ, reveals a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled that the cause of death has been deferred, or undetermined. The certificate claims an autopsy was performed, however, TMZ reports that the coroner is still awaiting toxicology results.

The certificate also shows the teen was not pregnant nor had she been in the last year. LAPD Captain Scot Williams previously said they’re trying to determine if the teen died from foul play or other causes. Without the coroner’s findings, the death cannot officially be listed as a homicide.

D4vd Investigation: Surveillance Video Shows Celeste Rivas Hernandez Arguing With Parents’ Neighbors, Cussing And Using N-Word, Months After Missing Report

Hours after Hernandez’s death certificate surfaced, surveillance video of her arguing with her parents’ neighbors, months after being reported missing, surfaced. Her family had first reported her missing from their Lake Elsinore, CA home, last seen on April 4, 2024, at age 13.

However, unearthed footage obtained by TMZ shows she was at her parents’ home on September 8, 2024 — one day after she turned 14, and exactly one year before her body was discovered in the impounded Tesla trunk. The video — recorded by a Nest camera months after the teen was reported missing — shows Hernandez arguing with her parents’ neighbors.

The publication reports that it shows her getting upset with a family over a prank. In the clip, the family sits outside their apartment building, listening to music, as the teen starts yelling. Hernandez accuses one of the kids of playing ding-dong-ditch on her parents’ door. As she cusses at the family, she also uses the N-word. One of the men then yells back that he isn’t Black and to stop calling him the racial slur.

Following the incident, the neighbors’ boyfriend reportedly went over to the teen’s home to apologize. Her father answered the door, but reportedly appeared unbothered by it all. Reportedly, the neighbors claimed they remembered seeing the teen’s family walking around with missing posters months before. But, when they saw her in September, they assumed she was found and everything was alright.
