As we previously shared, on September 8, LAPD officers were called to an impound lot in Hollywood, California. Employees at Hollywood Tow, near Mansfield Avenue and Romaine Street, made the call to police. They reported a foul odor coming from inside of a car parked in their lot.

Upon arrival, police approached the vehicle with a strong stench. Officers described the car as a black 2023 Tesla with Texas license plates. They opened the front trunk of the Tesla and discovered a decomposing body stuffed inside of a bag.

Los Angeles Police Captain Robert Peters told NBC News Los Angeles the car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for some time, reportedly about a month. The car received some citations and was eventually towed to the Hollywood Tow where it sat for two days before Monday’s big discovery.

Upon initial investigation, detectives linked the car back to an owner based out of Hempstead, Texas. His name listed as David Anthony Burke, better known as singer D4vd. The 20-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist is best known for voicing viral songs like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.” The two songs alone have garnered billions of streams on Spotify, where he has more than 33 million monthly listeners.

Following the discovery, ABC Los Angeles reported that a medical examiner confirmed that the remains found in D4vd’s impounded Tesla belonged to a young woman. Since she had been dead for some time, the LAPD will heavily rely on the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Office to identify the victim and determine the cause of the death.

Additionally, the female victim was described as having wavy black hair, 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing 71 pounds. She was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that said, “Shhh…”. Again, as she was “severely decomposed,” investigators have not yet determined her age, race or ethnicity.

Investigators are currently treating this case as a homicide for now. A senior LAPD source said it will take several days for the coroner to determine the manner of death.

D4vd Investigation: LA County Medical Examiner Rules Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s Death Undetermined, Not Pregnant

According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled that the cause of death for Celeste Rivas Hernandez — the teen found decomposing in the trunk of a Tesla registered to singer D4vd — has been deferred, or undetermined.

The certificate claims an autopsy was performed, but TMZ reports that the coroner is still awaiting toxicology results. The certificate, also claims the teen was not pregnant nor had she been in the last year. LAPD Captain Scot Williams previously told TMZ that they are still trying to determine whether the teen died from foul play or other causes. Without the coroner’s findings, the death cannot officially be listed as a homicide. Police also searched the streamer-turned-singer’s house he lived in before touring. They looked for traces of blood, hair, and other DNA samples.

D4vd, who had been touring upon the Tesla discovery, continued working as police investigated this case. However, he recently began canceling his shows and tour altogether. This was around September 19, after police identified the teen and began investigating their “reported relationship.”

Fans quickly began connecting the teen to D4vd, with tons of video and photo evidence. Additionally, the teen’s mother told media that she feared the girl found in the Tesla was her daughter. She also said she knew she was dating someone named David. Again, the singer’s brith name is David Anthony Burke.
