Cristiano Ronaldo has addressed the passing of one of his twins following their birth back in April as she recalled his children asking him, “Where’s the other baby?” The distressing revelation was made in the soccer player’s latest interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” where he emotionally recalled having to break the news to his kids.

When he and his partner Georgina Rodriguez returned home from the hospital with their newborn daughter Bella, it was evidently hard to explain to his youngsters that baby boy Angel had passed away. “Gio arrived home and the kids start to say where’s the other baby, where’s the other baby?” Cristiano told Piers, adding that he ended up breaking down in tears in front of his eldest son, Cristiano Jr.

But it was the younger children who appeared to have been left very much confused by the news, he continued. “The kids start to say ‘Mom where is the other baby….’ …and after one week I say let’s be upfront and let’s be honest with the kids, let’s say that, Ángel, which is his name, he go to the Heaven.”

“The kids understand, we had shouts around the table and they say “Daddy I did this for Ángel” and they point to the sky. Which I like the most because he’s part of their lives. I am not gonna lie to my kids, I say the truth, which was a difficult process.”

Grieving the death of a child — let alone a baby — is inevitably hard to get through, particularly for someone like Cristiano, who returned to work shortly after shocking fans with the announcement. But the 37-year-old Portuguese native believes that the process of coming to terms with the devastating loss only strengthened the relationship he shares with not just his children but also Georgina, whom he first met in Madrid back in 2016.

“In my case it was better. I became more friendly with Gio. I was of course a friend but I feel more love for her and for my kids and I start to see life with a different perspective. It was the most difficult moments — the last six months — since my dad died.”

Cristiano’s father, José Dinis Aveiro died at the age of 52 in September 2005 due to an alcohol-related liver problem, causing great distress and pain to the athlete who had shared a difficult relationship with his dad due to his drinking habits.
