According to CNN Austin’s “inclination is towards making the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory.”

With a final recommendation the secretary could get a presidential waiver for the vaccine to be given to troops without full approval by the Food and Drug Administration. Later this week Austin will be pushing for a final decision, according to authorities.

On July 29 Biden asked the Defense Department to “look into how and when” it will add the Covid-19 vaccine to the list of mandatory military vaccinations.

Now discussions have came about how Joint Chiefs  plan to make vaccinations mandatory might work out for the world. First Austin is consulting military medical authorities to “seek authorization to make it mandatory.”

A Justice Department memo stated on July 6 that, “because DOD has informed us that it understandably does not want to convey inaccurate or confusing information to service members—that is, telling them that they have the ‘option’ to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine if they effectively lack such an option because of a military order—DOD should seek a presidential waiver before it imposes a vaccination requirement.”
Austin expressed told a news conference their timeline on putting this policy in place. “But we won’t let grass grow under our feet,” he said. “The President directed us to do something and we’ll get after it.”
