Investigators are currently searching for the suspects who robbed a storage unit at the Pennsylvania Hospital’s vaccine clinic. The robbery was reported by the clinic’s senior director on Jan. 25 and said all staff has access to the storage room. Additionally, there were no signs of forced entry as reported by authorities.

According to CBS Local Philadelphia, officials say that vaccination cards are very profitable in the black market. Police also added that it is currently unclear how many cards and masks were stolen.

“Safety and security are top priorities in all of our facilities. When this issue was discovered, we promptly reported it to the Philadelphia police and are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation,” the hospital said in a statement.

State Department spokesperson James Garrow said citizens are using fake vaccination cards to have access to restaurants and other places due to COVID-19 regulations.

“When you have people go in there and they say that they’re fully vaccinated and they’re not, it increases the risk to everyone that’s in that restaurant, “The health department maintains all of our vaccines and the vaccine ancillary supplies, like the shot cards, under lock and key but we understand as we distribute the vaccine and all of these things like vaccine cards out to our partners, they may not have the capacity to do that.”
