Several coronavirus patients say they are experiencing a new symptom that causes a strange buzzing or “fizzing” sensation in their body.
According to the New York Post, multiple coronavirus patients are reporting their experiences on Twitter and called the new symptom “fizzing.” It is described as a weird tingling sensation felt throughout the body but doctors are saying it us one of the last things patients feel as they are fighting the virus. Other notable symptoms of the coronavirus are fever, loss of smell and taste, strokes, seizures, aches, respiratory issues, dry cough, and fatigue.

However, some patients don’t experience many symptoms despite testing positive for the virus. Doctors also say the “fizzy” feeling may be an autoimmune response that affects the individual’s nervous system.

Dr. Daniel Griffin, chief of infectious disease at ProHealth Associates, told the New York Post that the symptom has been identified but “we’re just not sure yet how widespread it is.”
“People are used to being sick and then in a few days being all good. This infection seems to have this tail to it — a lingering fatigue. There’s kind of a foggy, zombie-like state, where their eyes get glassy and they’re not quite as sharp.”
Dr.Vipul Shah, Clinical Director of Pack Health, says it could an underlying symptom from people who have never experienced fevers:
“If people aren’t used to having fevers, maybe their skin really does feel like an electric sensation,”
Griffin also suggested letting the body heal on its own due to the symptom being benign.
