Devon Lewis,35, faced several charges for the sale and possession of cocaine and heroin in Sept. 2020. Before prosecutors could make their closing arguments, Lewis provided a photo that his wife Blair McDermott tested for the coronavirus. A month later, Lewis said he and his wife were in quarantine and his attorney provided another document claiming McDermott tested positive again on Oct. 8. Lewis also provided a fake doctor’s note stating he has asthma and if he was placed in jail during the pandemic would pose a health risk.
However, an investigation made by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office revealed that McDermott forged the documents to show a positive result and actually tested negative along with changing the dates before the scheduled trial appearances. It was also discovered that the couple did not quarantine in their Manhattan apartment and actually traveled to multiple hotels and casinos in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
