Costco has issued a warning to customers, announcing the recall of Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene purchased between April 25 and August 26.
According to the Associated Press, the bottles were sold in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota. The company revealed that unused bottles may shatter even when not in use, creating a serious safety hazard.
Safety Instructions for Customers
Costco’s statement urged customers not to open any unopened bottles, stating:
“If you have an unopened bottle, do not open it. Dispose of the bottle immediately (do not return the item) by wrapping the unopened bottle in paper towels and placing it in a plastic bag before placing it in the garbage to avoid risk from shattered glass.”
Customers are entitled to a refund, but they must return the recall letter, which is available on Costco’s website. The company also confirmed that letters were mailed directly to customers who purchased the product.
No Injuries Reported
At this time, Costco has not confirmed any reported injuries related to the defective bottles. The retailer also did not disclose how many bottles were sold during the recall period.
The recall serves as a precautionary measure to prevent potential harm from the defective glass bottles.
