Coronavirus: Company Who Makes Face Masks Receives Order For $57M
As the coronavirus blazes on, so do the fears of catching it, and the demand for face masks. However, one company, who sells them, has reportedly received an order for nearly $57 million and can’t fulfill it.
Additionally, NIC, which sells cleanroom equipment and supplies, got hit with an order for 553,000 cases of masks, totaling a whopping $56,406,000, per TMZ. But, they state they’ve only got about 30 cases (with 1,000 masks per) left in their inventory — more than half a million cases short.

While the company’s doubled their price per case from $100 to $200, in an attempt to lessen the demand and stretch its remaining supplies, TMZ adds, “The CDC says that crazy demand is totally unnecessary because only diagnosed patients should even be wearing the masks. If you don’t have the virus, you don’t need the mask.“
Furthermore, the company’s plan to drive down sales hasn’t worked, and a rep tells the publication, “they’re only selling to longtime customers.”
In addition to the large order, via China, the site notes that 2 more people headed to NCI’s Minnesota offices, requesting for 56,000 cases at the increased $200/case price — totaling $11.2 million.
