Shocking video shared to social media shows the moment a Michigan police officer fatally shot and killed a 19-year-old woman after she shot him during a Juneteenth parade. The officer then falls to the ground and starts sobbing.
WJBK-TV reports that the woman was identified as Briana Sykes. She reportedly pulled up to the officer, who was on traffic duty during a Flint parade on Saturday, and allegedly fired at him.
In the video, the officer instructs Sykes to put down the weapon, however, she allegedly does not and fires at him. He then fires multiple shots. Sykes was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
“I kind of feel like him dropping, it was the devastation of the whole situation,” one witness said. “I feel like the police was doing his job. He had a life to protect. Not only his, but we had a parade full of kids.”
Michigan State Police are currently investigating and the unidentified officer has been placed on administrative leave.
Witnesses at the scene confirmed that Sykes fired her shot first before the officer.
