The Miami Heat let their mascot take a punch from the former UFC champion Conor McGregor during game 4 of the NBA finals. Following the hits the mascot was sent to the emergency room.

During the third quarter of game 4, McGregor was promoting a pain relief spray so he was attempting to demonstrate how the product works and threw a few punches at the Heat’s mascot. Once McGregor hit the mascot with a left hook he followed up with another punch and the mascot was laid out on the ground. McGregor went on to try and spray him with the pain relief, but it seems that didn’t help.

Luckily the mascot isn’t in too much paid. According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the man is reportedly doing well after receiving pain medication and getting sent home.

After the video made rounds on social media a few folks started weighing in on the incident. Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship reacted to the news saying, “What’s up with mascots wanting to get punched in the face by professional fighters?” He questioned.

“What do you expect? I mean, what are those mascot things made out of? Unless you’re like, the Golden Knights mascot — I don’t even know what he wears, but I’m assuming it’s a metal helmet — I wouldn’t have professional fighters punching me in the face if I was a mascot. Doesn’t seem like the brightest thing in the world.”
