Cops have identified the alleged gunman responsible for the death of four people at a Louisville, Kentucky, bank on Monday morning.

23-year-old Connor Sturgeon, who formerly worked at the Old National Bank where he is alleged to have shot and killed his victims, is reported to have walked into the building at around 8:30 AM before firing countless shots that also ended up injuring eight other people, per the police report.

Surgeon reportedly spent three summers working as an intern for the bank before he was brought on as a commercial development professional just two years ago.

His LinkedIn profile reveals that in 2022, he became a full-time associate and portfolio banker, while a motive behind the shooting still remains unclear.

Sturgeon was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration and an accompanying Accelerated Master of Science degree in Finance three years ago. Per USA Today, after killing four and wounding close to a dozen people, Sturgeon engaged in an exchange of gunfire with cops before he was shot and killed by one of the officers.

“This was an evil act of targeted violence,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a statement this afternoon.

Gov. Andy Beshear continued saying several of his friends who worked at the bank were victims in the morning shooting, expressing,  “This is awful. I have a very close friend that didn’t make it today. And I have another close friend who didn’t either. And one who’s at the hospital that I hope is going to make it through.”

The Louisville shooting has left many people in shock and disbelief. The community came together to mourn the victims and to offer support to those affected by the shooting.

At a press conference, Police Department Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel reported that the suspect had apparently live-streamed part of the shooting on Instagram.

Meta, the company that owns the social media site, said that the videos were removed as quickly as possible, with police saying Sturgeon had used a rifle and shot at the officers, who then retaliated with fire, subsequently killing him.

Officer Nickolas Wilt, 26, was shot in the head and had to undergo surgery after the shootout. Gwinn-Villaroel noted that Wilt was still fairly new to the police department, making it all the more tragic for him to have almost succumbed to his injuries. It’s believed that he ran towards the gunfire in an effort to save the lives of the innocent people at the bank.

Two other people are in critical condition, while three have already been discharged from the hospital, per the police report.
