Socialites, join us in congratulating Da Brat and wife Jesseca Dupart who has welcomed their first child together, a baby boy!

The couple first shared the exciting news exclusively with PEOPLE, revealing that Da Brat gave birth to their son in Atlanta at 8:30 pm ET on July 6, weighing in at 7lbs, 8oz, and measuring 20 inches long.

Speaking on the beautiful moment, Da Brat shared how thrilled she was to have experienced welcoming their bundle of joy into the world: “I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me!” the rapper and reality star told the outlet. “Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.” Jesseca added: “Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy,” she says. “This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.” So what did they name their baby boy? “His name had been True Legend Harris-Dupart but now that we’ve met him we are tempted to name him PERFECT,” Jesseca said. Despite that, the two kept the name True.

More On Da Brat And Jesseca Dupart’s Pregnancy

Da Brat, 49, broke the news about her pregnancy back in February in an interview with PEOPLE. She talked about their road to motherhood and what the pregnancy has been like.

“It’s been quite a journey,” Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris-Dupart, said. “There’s a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40.” Da Brat said that she never thought motherhood was in the cards for her but her wife was already the mom to three kids from a previous relationship, and after joking with their fans, they actually got serious about having a baby.

“It started as a joke, we were like, ‘We’re extending our family!'” Da Brat said. “But then we got a huge response. It was like, ‘Oh my God do we want to actually have kids, and if we do, girl, we better hurry up!’ She said at the time, adding, “I never thought I was going to have kids,” Da Brat said. “I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”

Thanks to her supportive wife Harris-Dupart, it helped change her outlook on motherhood. “I started looking at life so differently. I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.”

More On Their Relationship

In March 2020, Da Brat finally confirmed that she was in a relationship while coming out to her friend and family in an emotional post… after being presented with a white Bentley by Dupart for her birthday.

“Never have I EVER. Needless to say… I’ve always been a kind of private person until I met my heart’s match who handles some things differently than I do. Thank you baby @darealbbjudy for far more than this incredible birthday gift,” the rapper wrote.  “I have never experienced this feeling,” she added. “It’s so overwhelming that often I find myself in a daze hoping to never get pinched to see if it’s real so I can live in this dream forever.”

The two officially married in February 2022, in a “fairy-tale” star-studded wedding ceremony. The ceremony had one hundred guests including Eva Marcille, Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss, and more.

Since then the two have clearly been going than ever.

Congrats!
