Comedian Teddy Ray Reportedly Died In An Apparent Drowning, Found In Pool By Maintenance Man

Over the weekend we shared that actor and comedian Teddy Ray had sadly passed away. At the time, Ray’s cause of death had not been revealed. It is now being reported that he died in an apparent drowning and was found in a pool by a maintenance man.

As mentioned, the news of Ray’s passing surfaced on Friday (August 12). At the time, several peers of his had shared their condolences across social media. There were no indications of how Ray had passed.

Since, it is now being reported that Ray died in an apparent drowning. Officials at California’s Riverside County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) say they responded to a call on Friday morning (August 12) around 10 AM PST.

RCSO officials arrived at a private residence in Rancho Mirage, CA, where a maintenance worker claimed that he had found a man floating in the swimming pool of the home. When cops arrived to the scene, they discovered Ray dead in the pool.

At the moment, Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials say that there were no obvious signs of foul play in Ray’s death. However, it is still unclear as to whose pool the comedian drowned in. The coroner adds that Ray lived in Gardena, CA — which is about a good 2 1/2 hours away from the desert home where he died at.

Meanwhile, investigators say that they are still waiting for Ray’s autopsy to process before they officially determine his cause of death.

Ray, was 32 years old and was known for his various skits and sketches on Comedy Central, All Def Digital, and MTV’s ‘Wild ’N Out‘ and ‘Messyness.’

He was also known for his work on HBO’s ‘Pause with Sam Jay,’ and Comedy Central’s ‘How to Be Broke.’

The actor and comedian, who did both scripted and unscripted work and has been in the show business since early 2011, was recognized by Comedy Central who sent out a public tribute to the late comedian.

They wrote, “Teddy Ray was a hilarious and beloved performer. He’ll be deeply missed by the entire comedy community.”
