Comedian Amy Schumer Says She Is ‘Still Triggered And Traumatized’ By Will Smith’s Oscars 2022 Slap

Oscars host Amy Schumer is still shaken up by Will Smith smacking Chris Rock during the live ceremony on Sunday.

In an Instagram post that was shared late on Tuesday, the comedian said that she is “traumatized” over the situation. “I think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and see me on tour this fall,” Schumer first joked while referring to her Hulu show “Life & Beth.” However, she quickly changed her tune and stated,

“But for real. Still triggered and traumatized. I love my friend @chrisrock and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend @questlove, and the whole thing was so disturbing. So much pain in @willsmith anyway I’m still in shock and stunned and sad. I’m proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed,” Schumer continued.

Will Smith who slapped Rock after he made a joke about his wife has since issued two public apologies to the academy and to Chris Rock. In his latest statement he said:

“I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be,” he wrote in part. “There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
