The announcement was made on Friday by Loveland Police Chief Robert Ticer who said the three officers, Austin Hopp, Daria Jalali, and Tyler Blackett, resigned over last year’s incident. The three officers arrested Karen Garner after she shoplifted from a local Walmart in June 2020 and their bodycam footage shows the pair slamming her onto the ground and against the police vehicle.

After her arrest, the trio laughed and joked about it on video. Garner’s lawyer said she sustained injuries such as a broken elbow and a dislocated arm along with bruising. Her family added that the department has a negative reputation among the community.
