Coi Leray is letting it be known where her relationship stands with her father, Benzino.
On Wednesday the female rapper shared a new post to her X account and stated that she doesn’t condone the interviews that her father is currently making headlines for. Her new post comes after a clip of Benzino saying R. Kelly deserves a second chance made rounds on social media today. As we previously reported, the hip-hop veteran sat down with the “We In Miami Podcast” and seemingly defended the R&B singer for messing with underage girls. “Everyone deserves a second chance. I know that [Elvis Presley], a lot of other—-s was f—g with young girls,” he stated during the podcast.
Benzino also stated, “I’m not into that” before adding, “Again. The legal age is 16. So does that make it right if a n—a does it?” Benzino asked the room. The ladies at the table answered “No.” However, Benzino went on to note: “But it’s legal in America. So why is R. Kelly doing all this time?”
“Because you know why? They’re 13, 14, two years younger.” Trying to land his point, Benzino pointed out that the lawmakers who cleared the age limit knew men are possibly going under the age of 16…
After the clip was shared by multiple people on social media, Coi Leray spoke out to update fans about her relationship status with her father.
“I want everybody to know I want nothing to do with anything my father has going on. I haven’t spoken to him in over a year and I don’t condone or respect any of them interviews he got going on. I don’t respect his decisions and I really want nothing to do with him please don’t even think of me when you see him,” she said.
Coi added, “Sharing the same DNA and blood DOESN’T make us FAMILY . Loyalty, boundaries, respect, teaching, guidance, love, patience, and encouragement MAKES US a FAMILY.”
It’s no secret that Benzino and his daughter Coi Leray have had a rocky relationship, but as of late, things have appeared to be going great with Zino showing mad love to his daughter as she climbs the Hip-Hop ladder and even him being there when she gets into beefs with fellow emcees. But before recent times, as Coi’s star began to rise, she’s been seen going back and forth with her father online, calling him out for fake love and “trying to tarnish [her] life.”
As we previously reported, Coi Leray had a candid conversation with the legendary radio host, Angie Martinez, and explained how she feels her father has been envious of her success. “At first it was rocky because I felt like he couldn’t handle my success. I felt like it did come from an envious place, which is okay, ’cause he’s human, and that’s fine. But I felt like he still wants… Like he’s one of those people that feels like, ‘Yo, I still have a story to tell. I feel like I have to say something, let me say something.’”
Benzino responded back to his daughter’s interview with an Instagram caption that read: “This has to be the most ridiculous 💩 I’ve heard in my entire life on this earth. How tf can be envious of someone I RAISED, NURTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED, AND LOVE VERY DEARLY???”
