OMG! #Socialites get into this! While some of the biggest names in Hollywood attended the Met Gala 2023 — where the night’s theme was ‘A Line of Beauty,’ in honor of the late German designer Karl Lagerfeld who died in February 2019 — perhaps the biggest moment of the night was when a cockroach crashed the carpet, nearly stealing the show, before getting squashed!

Cockroach Crashes Carpet At The Met Gala 2023 And Nearly Steals The Show Before Getting Squashed
On fashion’s biggest night, a New York City cockroach ended up stealing the show! Despite the dozens upon dozens of A-list stars whom brought their A-game to this year’s Met Gala on Monday (May 1), a creepy crawly caused a whole bunch of hoopla inside of the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
As fans, photographers and more waited for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky to hit the carpet next, there was a brief intermission full of entertainment by someone other than an A-lister. News publication Variety ended up capturing the moment a fast-walking roach strutted its stuff across the white, red and blue carpet at the Met Gala.

Photographer Kevin Mazur chased down the moment and took a few snaps of the roach as others on the carpet screamed in terror, fearing the roach would run towards them.
There are several videos that have been posted to the internet and that have gone viral showing the moment the roach hit the carpet, even a photo of Mazur posing with his camera that showed a nice snapshot of the roach at the Met Gala.

After sharing the video and photo of Mazur, Variety then updated with another tweet and tribute post stating, “It is with deep sadness that we must report the #MetGala cockroach was stepped on. #RIP.” They included a photo of the roach, with his death date and name “Met Gala Cockroach.”
Taking to social media, several users had jokes about the cockroach making its Met Gala debut. One person wrote, “Imagine a cockroach outdressing everyone at the met gala.” Another person said, “Honestly a cockroach stealing the snow and ‘walking’ the Met Gala carpet is the most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”
