Shortly after Don Lemon announced to his Twitter that he had been terminated from CNN, the network fired back and said his statement about his termination was “inaccurate.”

CNN Claims Don Lemon’s Statement About His ‘Abrupt’ Termination Was ‘Inaccurate’
As we previously shared, early Monday morning (April 24), it was reported that CNN and Don Lemon had parted ways. Don took to his Twitter account and made the big reveal. He shared that his agent told him on Monday morning (April 24), that the network had terminated him.
He said, “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”
Following Don’s statement, CNN CEO Chris Licht shared a memo to his staff that said, “Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors. CNN This Morning has been on the air for nearly six months, and we are committed to its success.”
Reacting to Don’s termination, Donald Trump immediately responded and said, “The dumbest man on television, Don Lemon, has finally been fired from Fake News CNN. My only question is ‘WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG?’”

However, some time after Don’s initial statement went viral — where he essentially claims he was blindsided with his firing — a public relations spokesperson for CNN tweeted out from the CNN Communications Twitter account, claiming Don was offered the chance to speak with his managers about the decision.
They wrote, “Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

Despite CNN’s PR statement about Don’s “inaccurate” statement, it’s still unclear as to what specifically led to Don’s firing. However, just a few weeks ago, we shared a report published by Variety.
In the exposé, Variety accused Don of diva-like behavior, and misogyny – by alienating and mocking his female co-workers for nearly two decades.
They claimed the Emmy-winning host allegedly disrespected his colleague Nancy Grace, by mocking her on air. They claimed he allegedly told Soledad O’Brien that she wasn’t Black enough to host CNN’s ‘Black In America’ docuseries. And they said he allegedly called a female producer fat to her face, among other alleged offenses.
