Christina Ricci Files For Divorce After Husband Reportedly Spit On Her
Actress Christina Ricci is reportedly calling it quits with her husband and is filing for divorce after he allegedly spit on her after an altercation.
The Blast reports that court documents, filed in Los Angeles show that Ricci filed for divorce from her husband of 7-years, James Heerdegen, citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’ Ricci is also asking for sole legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old son, Freddie.

The star had previously called 911 on June 25, 2020, asking for help, claiming that her husband had assaulted her by spitting on her after a heated argument at their home. Heerdegen wasn’t arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department but Ricci obtained an emergency protective order against him.
Back in 2017, Ricci spoke to PEOPLE about how marriage and becoming a mom changed her,
“I think the latest developments in my life have grounded me,” Ricci told PEOPLE at the time. “My agent has been with me since I was 10 years old and she’s a brilliant, grounded woman, so she’s responsible for that element. But also really, it was getting married and having a child.”
“I didn’t realize how much growing up I had to do and how much better I could be,” she added. “And my marriage and my kid have really made me better.”
Ricci and Heerdegen met on the set of Pan Am and started dating bavk in 2012.
