Aguilera and Spears have known each other since their days at the Mickey Mouse Club and were pitted against each other due to their status as pop princesses in the earlier years of their careers. There are times that the two singers played into the rumors, and Aguilera has shown support for Spears throughout the years.

In 2021, Aguilera supported Spears after she broke off her 13-year conservatorship. “It’s a subject that I definitely want to be careful of because I never want to speak out of [turn] about somebody that I have so much respect and admiration for,” she said on “The Enrique Santos Show.”

“I couldn’t be happier for her, and every woman deserves to feel empowered and to own that for themselves, however they see fit. If anybody gets that and understands what that means at that time coming up, it definitely would be her and I.”

Fans reacted to the interview and had mixed feelings about Kimmel’s questions about Spears’ memoir. One user wrote on X, “Jimmy Kimmel is a MESS for bringing up Britney during this Christina Aguilera interview. I hate the media sometimes.”

Fans were also stunned when an excerpt from Spears’ memoir revealed that she had an abortion when she was dating Justin Timberlake and said she did it because he wasn’t ready to become a father yet.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

She also discussed why she shaved her head in 2007 due to being tired of having the spotlight on her at all times.

“Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back,”
