Chris Rock Says He Does Not Want To Host The Oscars

After Kevin Hart stepped down as host for the 2019 Oscars, many people started to drop names of other A-List celebs who be good to fill Hart’s spot. One of the celebrity that many people suggested was comedian Chris Rock.

While he has hosted the award shows twice and did a pretty good job, it doesn’t look like he’ll be taking on this gig. During the New York Film Critics Circle Awards dinner in Manhattan Monday night, Rock said he doesn’t have any interest in hosting the Oscars this year.

“If it was five years ago, I could say something really offensive and funny right now, but I can’t do that anymore, so … heyyyy!” Rock cracked, as he took the podium at the NYFCC Awards, as he presented director Bo Burnham with the award for best first film for “Eighth Grade.”

He said to the crowd,

“Steve Martin is here. You should host the Oscars. You’re the best,” Rock said. “Steve Martin should host the Oscars! Because I’m not doing it, goddammit! You’re not getting me.”

Rock may be out but Hart might just be back in! After the comedian got word that the Academy still wanted him to host, thanks to Ellen DeGeneres, he said he would take some time to make a decision.

He has apologized for his old homophobic tweets recently which is what the Academy intiutalky asked for, so he’s taking the right steps to reclaim his title.

Socialites, do you think Hart will accept the gig again? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
