Chris Brown Arrested in Manchester Over 2023 Bottle Attack Incident
Chris Brown is back in headlines—and not for his music. The R&B superstar has officially been charged with intentional grievous bodily harm following a bottle attack that reportedly went down at a London nightclub two years ago.
The charge was confirmed by the Metropolitan Police, who said the 36-year-old was taken into custody early Thursday morning. Brown was reportedly arrested at 2 a.m. at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester.
According to the Daily Mail, the alleged assault occurred at a venue in Hanover Square, London, on Sunday, February 19, 2023. The victim? A music producer whose identity hasn’t been made public yet, but the severity of the charges indicates serious injuries.
A spokesperson from CPS London North, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Adele Kelly, stated:
“We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.”
“The alleged incident occurred in London on February 19, 2023. He will have his first court appearance on Friday, May 16 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.”
She continued with a reminder to the public:
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”
“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Upcoming Tour Dates Still On — For Now
Despite the legal storm, Chris Brown’s Breezy Bowl XX tour hasn’t been canceled—yet. The Grammy-winning artist is still set to perform ten more shows across the UK and Ireland, with dates kicking off on June 15 at Co-op Live in Manchester. The last show on the schedule is July 3, back at the same venue.
But this latest arrest could throw everything up in the air. Fans are now questioning whether he’ll be able to make those appearances or if a court order will block travel or performances.
